Last week I ventured to one of my favorite photography spots in the Bay Area, Uvas Canyon, around Santa Cruz, with the goal of practicing with my new camera, the Hasselblad X2D 100c and the XCD 38mm lens, and shoot some material to use to hone my post processing skills.
I put strong emphasis on preparation in my photography: I research a location extensively before the shoot, look for the best weather condition and, when it comes to seascapes, check the tide table.
When I'm at the location, I arrive early before sunset, or the day before if I plan to shoot a sunrise, and look for the best composition I can see.
I’m a software engineer, I’ve always been good with numbers especially at school, and never paid much attention to art classes: so little attention that my Art teachers kept telling me that I couldn’t draw if my live depended on it.
I was born by the sea and have very fond memories of me being little joining my grandfather on his ship when he was working out at sea in the south of Italy. I'm very much drawn to water whenever I want to take images I feel connected to, when I’m chasing the light, looking for Beauty and Grace.
